Coach Kim Sang Sik returns to Vietnam earlier than expected to kick off two major campaigns

Coach Kim Sang Sik returns to Vietnam today, January 17, ahead of schedule, as he was initially expected to remain in South Korea until mid-February.

After concluding a brief vacation in his homeland, the South Korean coach is set to arrive in Vietnam today, marking a significant change in his original plan to return in early February. Upon his arrival, Coach Kim will immediately attend two V-League matches from January 17 to January 24. Initially, he intended to delegate this task to his assistants but has decided to personally assess the players’ performances.

In addition to observing the matches, Coach Kim has another crucial task during his return. He will work closely with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to appoint a new goalkeeper coach following the departure of Lee Won Jae after the ASEAN Cup 2024.

It remains uncertain whether Coach Kim will recommend another South Korean coach for the role or opt for a Vietnamese assistant goalkeeper coach for the upcoming phase. His decision will be pivotal as the team prepares for upcoming competitions and maintains its momentum after the recent ASEAN Cup triumph.
