Ninh Binh, 14 June, 2025 – Phu Dong Ninh Binh officially lifted the 2024/2025 Gold Star V.League 2 title at home in Round 21 after a convincing 3-0 win over second-placed Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc. On a day of celebration, coach Nguyen Viet Thang’s men turned the championship ceremony into a goal-scoring party, further extending their unbeaten streak and creating distance in a thrilling battle for the second-place play-off spot.
With 18 wins, 1 draw, and no defeats, Phu Dong Ninh Binh dominated the season, scoring 38 goals and conceding only twice, accumulating an incredible 55 points after 21 rounds. Their relentless pursuit of victory made them a “winning machine” and the undisputed champions of the V.League 2 2024/2025 season. Although they secured the title as early as Round 19, Phu Dong continued to play with high intensity, including their emphatic win over main rivals Binh Phuoc.
Should they win their final match against Dong Thap away from home in Round 22, Phu Dong Ninh Binh will close the season with a near-perfect record and the longest unbeaten run in HNQG history. Their focus now turns to the top-tier V.League 1 campaign set to begin in August 2025.
Meanwhile, the race for the play-off spot remains tight. After their defeat in Ninh Binh, Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc (41 points) now face pressure from PVF-CAND, who edged Khanh Hoa 1-0 and closed the gap to just one point (40 points). In the final round, both teams will play at home against sides who have already secured their places: Binh Phuoc host Long An while PVF-CAND welcome Dong Nai.
At the other end of the table, Hue FC were officially relegated despite a valiant 1-0 win over Ho Chi Minh FC Youth. With 16 points, the same as Hoa Binh, Hue lost out due to an inferior head-to-head record. Adding to their woes, Hue will sit out Round 22, having already completed 20 matches, while Hoa Binh still have one remaining fixture against Ba Ria Vung Tau. Despite several chances to climb out of the relegation zone earlier in the season, Hue failed to capitalize, and their final effort proved too little, too late.
With champions decided and one team relegated, all eyes now turn to the intense Round 22 finale, where the play-off fate of Binh Phuoc and PVF-CAND will be sealed.
