Viet Tri, 5 July, 2025 – Vietnam’s women’s national football team delivered another dominant performance as they comfortably defeated Guam 4-0 to secure a perfect group stage campaign and officially book their ticket to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
Heading into the final Group E match with six points from two wins, Vietnam only needed a draw to qualify. However, coach Mai Duc Chung fielded his strongest lineup, underlining the team’s determination to finish with maximum points.
The breakthrough came early. In just the second minute, Huynh Nhu sent in a dangerous cross that forced the Guam goalkeeper into a rushed clearance. The ball rebounded straight to Nguyen Thi Van, who calmly slotted it into the empty net to give Vietnam a 1-0 lead.
About ten minutes later, Guam’s defense made another critical mistake, passing the ball directly to Bich Thuy inside the penalty area. The Vietnamese number 23 made no mistake, doubling the lead to 2-0.

Before the first half ended, Bich Thuy struck again with a close-range finish to complete her brace, putting Vietnam firmly in control with a 3-0 advantage.
In the second half, Vietnam continued to dominate possession, though their finishing was less clinical. Nevertheless, substitute striker Hai Yen managed to find the back of the net in the 72nd minute, sealing the 4-0 victory.
With three wins from three matches and a full nine points, Vietnam topped Group E and earned a place in the final tournament of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026. This achievement marks an important milestone for Vietnam’s women’s football as the team continues its rise on the continental stage.
Coach Mai Duc Chung and his squad will now set their sights on preparing for the final round, aiming not just to compete but to contend among Asia’s elite.
