Vietnam Wushu team wins two world championship titles in Brazil

Brazil, 8 September, 2025 – The Vietnam wushu team claimed its first two world championship titles thanks to the outstanding performances of athletes Phuong Nga and Thu Thuy.

“The athletes performed excellently in the finals to win the titles. This result was expected as Phuong Nga and Thu Thuy have been in top form,” said Vietnam wushu team coach Pham Quoc Khanh from Brazil.

The World Wushu Championship is currently taking place in Brazil. Ngô Thi Phuong Nga competed in the women’s 52kg final and convincingly defeated Aparna of India 2-0, securing the first gold medal for Vietnam.

Shortly after, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy won the women’s 56kg final against host athlete Beatriz Silva of Brazil, also 2-0. This marks Thu Thuy’s second world championship gold, having previously won in 2023 and successfully defended her title this year.
