Vietnam will send representatives to the Delegation Registration Meeting for the 20th Asian Games in Japan on September 9, where the country will officially confirm its final delegation for ASIAD 2026.
The September 9 meeting is an important step in preparations for the continental sporting event, allowing the Japanese organizers to receive final confirmation of the participating delegations.
Vietnam has registered a 498-member delegation, including 348 athletes, for the 20th Asian Games. Representatives of the Vietnamese delegation will attend the meeting to complete the necessary procedures and confirm the final roster.
Several Vietnamese national teams have recently been forced to make changes to their squads due to injuries. Any replacement athletes will be formally reported and confirmed during the meeting.
Once participating countries have finalized and officially submitted their delegations to the Japanese organizers, further changes to the registered lists will no longer be permitted.
Earlier, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Japanese organizing committee announced that more than 17,000 athletes and officials had registered for the Games before the Entry by Name deadline in July.
The 2026 Asian Games will take place in Aichi, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, featuring 469 medal events across 43 sports and 71 disciplines.
Vietnam will head into the Games with 348 athletes as the country prepares to compete against Asia’s leading sporting nations at one of the continent’s biggest multi-sport events.
