Ho Chi Minh 1 women’s football team secured the championship in the 2024 Women’s National Football Championship after a 2-2 draw against Than KS Vietnam in the 13th round.
Going into the 13th round, Ho Chi Minh 1 women’s football team had a 5-point lead over Than KS Vietnam, with only one round remaining in the season. This meant that a draw in the direct confrontation on the afternoon of July 28th would be enough for Coach Kim Chi’s team to clinch the title.
The match, played at the Vietnam Football Talent Training Center, ended in a 2-2 draw. Despite being initially behind, Ho Chi Minh 1 women’s football team made a strong comeback, scoring two goals to lead 2-1. Than KS Vietnam managed to equalize late in the game, but it wasn’t enough to prevent CLB TP.HCM 1 from claiming the championship.
This victory marks the sixth consecutive national title for Ho Chi Minh 1 women’s football team, setting a record in Vietnamese women’s football. It is also the 13th national championship in the club’s history, highlighting their dominance in the sport.
Following their success in the domestic league, Ho Chi Minh 1 women’s football team will now shift focus to the 2024/2025 AFC Women’s Club Championship. The team is set to compete in the group stage of this prestigious tournament, which will take place on home turf starting in October. This presents an exciting opportunity for the club to showcase their talents on an international stage and aim for further accolades.
