Japan, 11 June, 2025 – On June 11, the Vietnam women’s national team kicked off their training camp in Japan with a morale-boosting 3-2 victory over Iga FC Kunoichi Mie, a club currently ranked third in Japan’s second division.
This match is part of Vietnam’s preparation for the upcoming 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. Coach Mai Duc Chung fielded a strong starting lineup, featuring goalkeeper Kim Thanh; defenders Chuong Thi Kieu, Luong Thu Thuong, Tran Thi Thu, Thai Thi Thao, and Ngan Thi Van Su; midfielders Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Duong Van, Thu Thao, and Nguyen Thi Van; and striker Huynh Nhu leading the attack.

Vietnam fell behind early, conceding a goal in just the 2nd minute. However, the team quickly regained composure, and in the 16th minute, Nguyen Thi Van equalized. Despite the effort, Iga Kuinichi Mie restored their lead before the halftime break, heading into the second half with a 2-1 advantage.
The early minutes of the second half remained evenly contested. In the 63rd minute, Coach Mai Duc Chung made several substitutions, bringing on Diem My, Hai Yen, Nguyen Thi Duyen, Tuyet Ngan, and Tuyet Dung to replace Thu Thuong, Bich Thuy, Thu Thao, Nguyen Thi Van, and Thai Thi Thao.
The changes brought fresh energy, and Vietnam capitalized on their momentum. Striker Pham Hai Yen scored twice to turn the game around and seal a 3-2 victory for the visiting side.
Vietnam will continue their training schedule with a second friendly match against Tezukayama Gakuin University on June 13, as they fine-tune their squad ahead of the Asian Cup qualifiers.
