Ly Thi Luyen wraps up her Mongolia chapter and gears up for the next challenge

Mongolia, 9 February 2026 – Vietnamese middle blocker Ly Thi Luyen has just completed a productive stint with Hobby Ace in the Mongolian National Volleyball Championship, delivering performances that exceeded expectations. Over three months with the club, she featured in 25 matches and accumulated an impressive 276 points, averaging more than 11 points per game.

The Vietnamese women’s volleyball middle blocker finished the season among the top 10 scorers in the Mongolian league. Of her total points, 222 came from attacks while 52 were earned through effective blocking, underlining her all-round impact at the net.

These statistics speak volumes for a middle blocker and represent the best performance of Ly Thi Luyen’s career to date. Although she and Hobby Ace fell short of lifting the championship trophy, Luyen consistently ranked among the club’s standout performers and played a key role in what was widely regarded as a successful season.

Thanks in large part to the influence of the 1.95-meter-tall Vietnamese player, Hobby Ace finished as runners-up in the 2025–26 Mongolian volleyball season, marking a significant improvement from their fifth-place finish the previous year. The leap in results highlighted both the club’s progress and Luyen’s growing importance within the squad.

This memorable overseas experience has also provided fresh motivation for Ly Thi Luyen as she sets her sights on new challenges. She is set to return to Vietnam to reunite with Hoa Chat Duc Giang Lao Cai, where she will prepare for the upcoming domestic season.

If she can maintain her strong form, Ly Thi Luyen remains a realistic candidate for a recall to the Vietnam women’s national team under head coach Tuan Kiet. Standing at 1.95 meters, she holds a clear advantage in height, but further improvements in physical conditioning, jumping ability, and blocking speed will be crucial to maximizing her effectiveness at the highest level.

Competition for the middle blocker position is intense, yet opportunities remain wide open for the tallest middle blocker in Vietnamese women’s volleyball today, provided she continues her upward trajectory.
